Shamrocks Alumna Jessie Jacques Scores Game Winner To Give University of Maine Black Bears Sweep Over BU Terriers

University of Maine women's ice hockey team improved their unbeaten streak to eight games by sweeping Boston University in a two-game weekend series at BU's Walter Brown Arena. Maine struck early and often on Saturday afternoon, using three first period goals before adding one in the second period on its way to a 4-1 victory over the BU Terriers. The Black Bears then grabbed a 3-2 win against the Terriers on Sunday afternoon to complete the sweep.  Former JWHL All-Star and two-time Boston Shamrocks Captain Jessie Jacques scored her fourth goal of the season, and the eventual Sunday game-winner, with 3:53 remaining in the second period on a hard slap shot from the corner ice.

The two-game sweep at Boston University has earned the University of Maine women's ice hockey team the No. 10 ranking in the latest USCHO.com Division I Women's Ice Hockey national poll, released on Monday, Jan. 8.  The Black Bears are currently in third place in the Women's Hockey East Association (WHEA) standings at 8-3-2 in league play and 14-6-3 overall.

Coming up on the Black Bears schedule are three back-to-back games against Merrimack College, starting off with a single match on the road next Saturday, Jan. 13 in North Andover, Mass. Puck will be dropped at 2:00 p.m.
