Shamrocks Alumna Abbott Earns Third NEWHL Goalie of the Week Honor

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – For the third time this year, Boston Shamrocks Alumna and junior goaltender, Kassi Abbott (North Billerica, Mass.) of the Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team has been named the Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) Goalie of the Week, earning the honor for the period ending Dec. 10, 2017. 

She also earned NEWHL Goalie of the Week recognition on November 27 and October 30. 

Abbott registered her NCAA Division III-leading fifth shutout of the season on Saturday, helping Plattsburgh State defeat Trinity (Conn.) 3-0. She recorded 22 saves and earned her first career assist in the victory. 

Among the Division III leaders, Abbott currently leads the nation in save percentage (.971) and ranks third in goals-against average (0.72). She has posted a shutout in each of her past four starts. 

No. 3 ranked Plattsburgh State Cardinals (9-2-0, 6-0-0 NEWHL) next competes at the Norwich East-West Hockey Classic from Sunday-Monday, January 7-8, and will face host and No. 1 ranked Norwich University Cadets on Sunday, January 7, at 2 p.m. to open the event.
